The Bull Moose

On October 14th, 1912, Thedore Roosevelt survived a failed assassination attempt during a campaign event. The bullet was slowed due to his eyeglasses case and a 50-page speech titled, "Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual". With a bullet still lodged in his chest, he began his speech with the following line, “Friends, I shall ask you to be as quiet as possible. I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot—but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.” This event enshrined The Bull Moose as the symbol of Theodore Roosevelt's Progressive Party. I now use this symbol not to emulate this great man; I use it as a reminder that men not only have the capability, but also the responsibility to do great things in life. We must strive to be The Man In The Arena characterized in Roosevelt's "Citizenship In A Republic" speech. We must not sit on the sidelines or criticize others, but must take action every day to shape the world in which we live. It's time to remember where we came from and what made this country great. We must take a stand against the people of this world that are trying to make it worse and start shaping this country into a place that we are proud to reside.

Why I'm Doing This

My political policies are best characterized as "Progressive-Conservatism" similar to what Theodore Roosevelt represented through his Progressive Party candidacy. He once said that, "Wise Progressivism And Wise Conservatism Go Hand In Hand". It's important for us to remember our past, while moving towards a brighter future for all. My purpose in running for office is to help shape Tennessee into a place for my son to grow and thrive. My views are based on the principle that all human beings should be able to live in a way they see fit so long as their actions don't infringe upon the rights of another human being. We all deserve life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as our founders intended and I will work tirelessly to ensure these rights are extended to all people of our state. I was raised to protect those who cannot defend themselves and I intend on being a voice of opposition to the cruelty and injustice being done to my neighbors. I will stand up for you and fight until the end. It is time to take action and I hope you will join me to help make Tennessee a better place for us all.
